The PH Mentality
Discussion
Evening all
I, like everyone else on here loves cars. I pop into most marque sections to see what topics are going on and appreciate everyones cars near enough as much as the people who own them. Its a brilliant forum.
However, from time to time, you do come across a select few who have nothing constructive to say and just have a dig. Does anyone notice this?
What car do we all need to own that cant bring the 'knockers' out? Is there a car that ticks every PH box?

Yeah i see what you mean mate. You do actually see some on the Skyline GTR forum i visit
It just seems to be more on here.
In my eyes, the cars i own are perfect for me, but might not be for anyone else, but certain people like to dig at the make/model/fuel type/transmission etc etc like YOU made the wrong choice.
Maybe your safer in the marque dedicated forums? Not sure..
Cheers Ken

there he is!
Funny thing is, the thread was about finding out about if my car was mapped, and not for the performance factor, but more the torque limits of my gearbox if it is mapped. Its a capable car and ticks all my boxes as a daily driver, but it just seems like theres always someone round the corner ready to pounce and 'knock' the car you drive.
I wouldn't have minded if I was talking about a Saxo with a Superchip and big b
d exhausts.
Maybe i should get an MX5..

To be fair. BMW do sell many more diesels than petrol equivalent, so there will be a fair few diesel owners, and it is a BMW forum, on Pistonheads.

That's not really what you wrote, it was more 'my 535d is as fast as an SLK55, I am pleased with myself'.Funny thing is, the thread was about finding out about if my car was mapped, and not for the performance factor, but more the torque limits of my gearbox if it is mapped. A couple of days ago i popped out in the car (535d) and saw a lovely SLK55 in front of me at the lights. As we set off the young lad kept on glimpsing me in his rear view mirror, which to me only means one thing. When the car in front of him pulled off the carriageway he floored it, and of course so did I! Now i'm not saying for one minute my car is quicker than a 55, and I was ready for it (knocked it across into sport etc), but there was a moment when i had to back off for a split second. It was this little back off (i admit at speeds slightly above the national speed limit) that gave him the edge and he ever so slightly started to pull away, but by this time i left it at that, pleased with how my motor performed, and he started overtaking cars a bit dangerously for my liking so i backed off.
It got me thinking. Is my car remapped? I dont think it should have performed as it should, and this isn't the first time its surprised me. I bought it from an independant dealer who recieved it from Porsche, so they may not know if its been done by the first owner.
Any suggestions? I suppose a rolling road would be the best option, but anything else? If it isn't mapped, then they must be an animal when they are!
Cheers

My VX tends not to get a bad word said against it. Indeed, the worst thing I've ever had said about it on PH is that it's not as good as a Lotus - which is a bit subjective.
My 1er on the other hand, tends to draw the hate quite a lot. Some people can't accept the fact that I bought it because it's a nice place to spend time while on the move, as well as having decent handling and letting me splash out more on the VX as it's a bit less thirsty.

Geeteeaye
Not pleased with myself. I didnt do much really. More pleased with the car.
The part about the SLK wasn't a boast at all. Just explains the reason i'm lead to believe my car may be mapped. If i said it keeps up with a Kia Picanto then it probably isnt mapped eh.
Again, the story is why i'm lead to believe my car may be mapped
