It seems I have chosen the most expensive month possible to propose a 3/4 week tour of California with the family.

I expect July pricing is through the roof as school holidays commence at the start of July.

Any idea if there are any economic routes via a non-conventional east coast stopover?

If not, 3/4 weeks will need to be 2/3 weeks frown

Cheers

This, or Expedia. Have been to the US using both in the past year with no problems.

How much were you budgeting / hoping for ?

Adult fares are circa £750 LHR - LAX/SFO direct (travelocity.co.uk)

Have you a local airport you can start from and go via European mainland or Eire etc ? This can have a downside of having to loiter at the European hub for 6 hours or so on the return leg.

Have a look at some of Virgin holidays package offerings perhaps ?

Yes, cheapest way for me has always been to go from Aberdeen over to Amsterdam/Paris, then across to Memphis/Atlanta, and then to whichever place I'm heading.

cheers all

I was looking for circa £750 - but they're more like £900 in july.

Will look at odd routes through Amsterdam etc.

It was random 21 night stay, starting mid July I put into travelocity to get that price.
