Hi All

Just been on a tour of Scotland with some friends from the S forum, 1700 miles in five days

The car ran well for the entire trip, only issue I had was that the throttle wouldn't always fully shut so the car would tick over at approx. 1500 rpm. I tried to lubricate the mechanism with WD40 (all I had at the time).

Any suggestions on what it could be, I have two throttle return springs, I thought of replacing them both, could they have became stretched?

Thanks

Liam

May not be the spring at all - a misaligned throttle pot can cause increased idle revs I believe as the ECU still thinks the car is moving.

Thanks for the advice, but I don't think it is the throttle pot, as if I go under the bonnet while the engine is revving at 1500 rpm I can push the throttle back into position and the revs will reduce to approx. 800 where they should be?

Is there some kind of bush in the throttle mech that could need replacing?

Sounds similar to a problem I asked about the other day - linky

I hadn't considered the throttle angle though. Could be worth investigating as well.
