Release Bearings..
Discussion
.. Talk to me.
I'm going to the Nurburgring with fellow MX5-er MXT on Saturday.
I've just got back home from a spirited drive, and apparently have a noisy release bearing (noise goes when I clutch in), my brother recommends this, and clutch, is changed before we go.
Are the 5s prone to this? Should I worry? Should I just STFU and stick one in there on Friday (Cutting it VERY fine..)

if the noise goes from a light touch of the clutch pedal it's more likely the infamous slave cylinder squeak.I'm going to the Nurburgring with fellow MX5-er MXT on Saturday.

The rod from the slave cylinder rattles against the lever for the clutch, throw some grease on it and it'll stop for a few weeks. It's completely harmelss.
Next time I have the salve off I'm going to put a small teflon disc inside the 'cup' that the rod sits in to permanently stop the noise.
Could be what you say, could be this thing..

Could just need a gearbox oil change or the suggestion above.
Regarding what to do about it...many will suggest that a lot will depend on how bad the noise is and how quickly it has become worse.
It's possible to drive round on noisy release bearings for years for example!

Release bearing was noisy on mine for a year and half from when I got it.It's possible to drive round on noisy release bearings for years for example!
I replaced the clutch, and did the bearing. Within a few miles it was noisy again. Its still doing it another year later. I ignore it. Much the same as I ignored the noisy release bearing in my last car too.
My opinion is, if your sure thats what it is, and not just 'noisy' as opposed to horrendous shreiking, then just ignore it.

Exedy racing something or other £150, and £100 fitting.. If I had it fitted through work it'd be free, but I haven't got enough time left to get it fitted here so am getting it fitted by a mate.
Oh and two Paradas too, £100.
What about an air freshener and some mint imperials for the glovebox?Oh and two Paradas too, £100.

If you just took my less than 1/4 worn UPRATED Exedy clutch, you'd save £150.
But Im not going to beg!!
ETA and its not a paddle clutch either so it was nice and driveable. I miss it!
Mazda clutch is on back order so my brother said he'd just order one for me cause we need to fit it tonight, but thanks! But Im not going to beg!!

I'll drop you a PM when mine is due if that's ok? I already have a Sachs clutch ready to go, the current one isn't shot, but it'll be changed before going FI.
