My car flew through it's MOT today but had an advisory for rust on the underside. The garage suggested that getting it waxoyled would sort it out. Is there anything I should do to clean it up before getting it done?

Wire brush to clean off any flaky bits, then I'd use an underseal which contains Waxoyl.

Just used some on the black painted bit of the sills on mine, as well as the flange and the couple of inches of the floor adjacent to the sills.

Going to get under it and do the rest as soon as I find time.

You should also check out Dinitrol products.

There's a sticky at the top of this section.

Good old wire brush and hard work for the day does wonders wink

Slap on some underseal/waxoil/dintrol to protect it for ever more cloud9
