Was shut Easbound around 6ish, with Police all over the place. Not sure if it was an accident or what but seemed to involve a dark 3 series.

A woman fell off a pedestrian bridge onto the carriageway near Poulner, according to Wave. How she managed that I'll never know?

Bloody hell, how can life get so bad as to become a jumper. Awful. I guess she died, hence the road closure.

She jumped on to the carriageway, survival chances must be slim.

Very sad for those left behind, if indeed it was fatal. There were a couple of similar incidents on the M27 a few years ago. One near Romsey and one off the bridge outside our house (West End.)

I also reported a women sat on the wrong side of the barriers on a bridge over the M27 last week near Whitely. Whilst I was on the phone they had a spate of calls so I know wasn't going mad! Seems she didn't jump though.

As I understand it they are added to the statistics for the road and classed as a fatal RTC. Strengthens any aguments for cameras I guess!!!

It's not a good thing for those that hit these people either a mate of mine hit a woman committing suicide many years ago on the bottom of the M5/A38 it still affects him. Very sad all round for everyone involved in this including the poor guys and girls who have to clear away all the pieces too.

Really sorry for all those who have got involved in this. And that includes the Boys in Blue too

It was indeed a "jumper".

4AM this morning, still in night clothes and slippers, closed road with the road opening at midday.

Someone tried at this very spot last year or so, however, survived.

Not sure but it could be the same person.

Maybe now they will "cage" this footbridge, as this isnt the first time, and also, kids walking to school seem to find it amusing to throw things at cars from there too.

- it appears the original report was incorrect: rather than the pedestrian bridge, it was the Southampton Road bridge, so it's unlikely that there'll be any changes. If you do get anything thrown & you can tell it's school kids, please let me know & I'll endeavour to make sure those that need to know, do.

It was indeed the Southampton Road bridge and not the footbridge.
