Talk to me about living near Coventry.

The operative word here is 'near' as having lived in Coventry in my dim and distant past I can safely say that it's a complete s

1 hour gives you a lot of choice - there are some lovely vilages in Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire within striking distance (if villages are your thing)
You need to be a bit more specific about which direction you need to be in and whether you're a townie or country folk.

Thank you for your replies so far. Sorry should have given you more details. A village would be preferable for me, somewhere thats located towards London would be ideal.
How do you want to get to London, if it's by train do you want somewhere near a station on either the Chiltern of West Coast mainlines. You'll be looking for south warwickshire, somewhere near the M40.
Prices can get silly in the villages but this type of thing can be had within 2-3 miles of coventry.

As with any city it can have its good and bad areas if you were thinking of living closer, don't believe the stories I moved around the country a lot in my younger days and I can assure you it is no where near as bad as people say having lived in other towns.
Personally I would be looking at some of the villages along the M40, some cracking places surrounded by miles of countryside.

Amazing what half a million quid can buy you in the Midlands. Next door but one to me, a very run down and small 2 bed bungalow has just sold for £480k! And they say the property market is dead.Prices can get silly in the villages but this type of thing can be had within 2-3 miles of coventry.

I live in Nuneaton (a town next to Cov) and work in Coventry. If you've got any questions feel free to give me a shout. There are some nice villages towards Tycross on the A444 if you want to be close to Coventry without having to live too close to the City.
FYI, London Euston is an hour on the train from Coventry if that helps?

I lived in Ufton for a time, it's around 5 miles, maybe less to Leamington. My back yard was half the Warwickshire countryside, amazing views getting up in the morning made the fact that there werent any shops around a bonus. Depends what you want really, that was a bit too remote for me as it meant driving everywhere, and the Leamington taxi drivers werent so keen on going much further at night as they couldnt do a lot of other short runs
Southam was the next village on, didnt like it personally but the curry place there did a nice Madras.
I rented, was fairly cheap and handy for the M40 junction down from the main Leamington one, made it easier to get on/off in the mornings rather than have to go through Leamington and queue forever

Some idea of what sort of living you want would be useful, e.g. rural village etc. We have some property in Binley Woods which is on the edge of Cov and is nice and also near, There are lots of villages and small towns in the commute time you have suggested.
Ive already given an idea of what sort of living I want in a previous post. We're in a village between Banbury & Stratford. I work in Cov, and it's about a 35 min commute. Bus services are crap, but we manage to get into Stratford a lot for a night out, and Banbury is OK for a quick shop if you know what you want. The Cotswolds atart about 100 yards from where we live, so a lovely area, but not Cotwolds prices.
