Afternoon Gentlemen.

Right i have been speaking to pretty much every car dealer known to man over the last week. Re trading in my GTR. Or in some cases simply buying it off me, or a straight swap.

I have to say the max im being quoted at the moment is £40,000.
This being said even then they do not want the Ultima in PX. Bare in mind this is before they have seen the car. So basic information given, and no takers.

Maybe worth thinking about.

The nature of the car will always mean dealers are pretty much uninterested. They'll either not know what it is, or worry about how it was built, but most of all there will be no o'book' value that they can refer to - especially given the plethora of specs. out there. Even if they do know what it is, they'll probably want 'factory' spec. so they're dealing with as much of a known quantity as possible (not a dig by the way, just fact about how dealers will view it).

Either way, they'll want to take your pants down if you try to trade.

Sell it privately. It's a specialist vehicle and will require someone who knows what they're looking for to buy.

honestly what would you expect, this is a very special car, dealers hardly can handle it, it takes some patience to find the right buyer, but I can remember that all cars get sold sooner or later here on Pistonheads, it could easily be 3-4 months before you find the right buyer.

I've never understood why anyone would want to sell an Ultima!

Why is it not a premium add on here instead of ordinary?

I would play down all the tech as it would put me off and probably does others too.

You will take a big financial hit if you are in a hurry to sell but if you are patient then you should get much nearer to your price but only with a private sale.

I don't think anyone 'wants' to sell - more a question of 'needs must'.

Besides, as far as I'm concerned I'm now only ever 'between' Ultimas - if you see what I mean smile

being in the trade, no garage will want your car as they do not sell that type, and any trader does not want money tied up on the pitch..

The other major problem with a dealer is anyone whos trade is selling cars has to give by law a warranty.. How can you offer warranty on a car which is almost brand new and home built??? a dealer also relies on a warranty company to provide a warranty, and I will tell you know, you will not find one, and if you did it would cost a fortune..!

The only way you will sell, if you really need to, is privately, here as the new owners will know what they are buying and how much investment goes into it..

Just get in it and enjoy it, and sell after you have had a chance to enjoy it!!!

The real biggie here is a private sale means Cash. Possibly with a max 25K loan from a bank (haha you'd have to lie, be lucky and prove the loan was for home improvement).
Also buyers like to see a bit of continuity in ads, your (mjp mark) Ulima looks nice but it has been on at several price levels, I can sort of see why you have increased it up to the level of some of the other ones advertised, Ironically those seem to have dropped down a few K now.
I nearly "bit" at you previous ad but it would tie up a lot of cash and would be Just as hard for me sell on later (If I had to). If you feel like haggling a little on the previous price PM me whistle
Any how good luck with your sale.
