Looking for a C63 - some quick questions please!
Discussion
Hi All,
Seriously considering a C63 estate. I've done searches here, and the net in general to find more info. But a couple of quick questions and i'll be on my way...
1. Can you fit a tow bar to the estate? The lack of towing capacity figures points to a no...? (ideally need 1400kg braked for my race car)
2. What's the best UK based forum where i'll find the answers to my boneheaded questions? Again, searching isn't coming up trumps.
3. Warranties--- 3 years standard, so there's a big difference between and 08/09 car at present.... right? Or does everyone extend the warranty and is it then transferable? should i be worried about lack of warranty?
I've found a few threads on hear about identifying a PP, (LSD's etc) which were useful.
Anything else you want to point out to me will be greatfully received. (except MPG figures... I already know!)
Thanks, Steve

1 - Dont think so but not 100% sure
2 - mb club
3 - yes 3 years from new, cars are normally bombproof (all 3 of mine have been)
Good luck
Bit of a bump to garner more help, thanks for your input Chiefski.
Sod the towbar - I'll get one fitted to another vehicle for towing.
Really important question - Do i really need an LSD?
This won't see the track, so i can't imagine i honestly need one. And i really don't like the red calipers on the later PP cars. (although the red calipers don't definitely determine LSD is fitted on later ones..)
Though i do like the 19 inch multispoke wheels. (just for the look , i know the ride will be better on the 5 spoke 18's and they do look nice anyway)
What would you list as 'Must haves' ???
Many thanks in advance

Back when I had a C43 Merc didn't homologate AMG's for tow bars. May well still be the case.1 - Dont think so but not 100% sure

Yes - someone was doing a count today and so far there are 22 of them - of which 5 or so are estates. Quite a few variations - Performance packs, LSD's etcstinkysteve said:

The options I would say COMAND, 19" Alloys, Parktronic, Heated Seats would be a must have; other things that are nice to have are Harman Kardon, 19" Alloys, Privacy Glass (estate).
Would be nice to have one with a warranty though, although the engine is pretty strong, we have had one where the engine has gone pop. For the cost I would definitely say an extended warranty is worth the outlay.
Good luck with the search, they're a ridiculously good car!
I've noticed this too. I guess it has a lot to do with the facelift C63 that's just come out. When a few of these become available on the market the values of the older model will take a hammering.
I went to view one about 6 weeks ago and that particular car was first advertised at £43k, last week the same car was still for sale at £38k.
In the end I ended up buying an M3 saloon.

When I was looking for mine, I found lots for sale but very few had the all important spec such as LSD and COMAND....
If you're after PPP, Driver's Pack and LSD then the selection is very limited...
Once you find the right one, you'll be in your element. Best car I've owned...huge grin factor.

I strongly agree, prices are high and are set to drop. I'm petrified of depreciation after some bad experiences! Cheers

Yep. LSD's are almost impossible to find, PPP etc also but not quite as bad. Kev
The selection at the price point for me (£45k) isn't making buying one a no brainer, none look to be great value, as much as i want that engine.
I'm going to hold off for a while. I think they'll be starting at £30/32k in 6 months. Meaning a good spec one will be around £40k. Thanks again
Doesn't help when even dealers don't know what their cars have got!!!

PPP plus LSD but not drivers pack by the looks of it...

Have noticed the difference some dealers are selling cars with as opposed to without ppp can be more or less the same. I'm not going to look until q4 of this year, just feel there's a significant drop coming on the C63'sThe selection at the price point for me (£45k) isn't making buying one a no brainer, none look to be great value, as much as i want that engine.

Mercedes newcastle have just lowered the price on their 2011 60 reg ppplus car by £3k to £49850 which is the cheapest 60reg ppplus car for sale as of right now,i offered £46k cash which they declined - for now,but are keeping my number handy.
Thats is a good deal.....no Drivers package or LSD?Gassing Station | Mercedes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
