Needed!! closed road/long driveway
Discussion
Hi all,
To cut a long story short, I have just finished rebuilding a race engine that is now in my saxo race car and running well. My dilemma is, I need somewhere to run it in as it needs loading up rather than high revs sitting in my garage!
The only way to do this without burning the clutch is to drive it about. As the car has no tax, MOT, or insurance I can't drive on the road so need to find somewhere I can take it. I won't be driving around 100mph or anything so it doesn't to be a massive area, just private and likely I will get the owners consent. (not much to ask!)
My first idea was Eelsmoor? Driver training area (Army land) near aldershot, but after speaking to a nice chap who organises cycle races there he said I had no hope unless I was in the army or had a LOT of money. I can't get the car to any test days before the race (21st May) and am now stuggling for ideas.
Any ideas or advice would be appriciated. Regards,
Dan

right, take 2...
what about getting the AA to transport it to a location where you can have free run, then get them to transport it back a few days later
doesnt it 'count' as one of your breakdowns if you need to be transported somewhere?
or what about hiring a trailer for the day and taking it yourself?

I was in in a similar dilemma with having to bed new tyres and pads in before race day. Just had to stump up the cost of a test day at Brands. I was planning on using our Airfield at Odiham, but even that has a 30 mph limit.

I already have a trailer mate. So can take the car anywhere within reason. Just doing long hours at the moment so wont get time to go far in the evenings. I need to do the brake pads as well! But The engine is the main thing to get sorted. Odiham would be ideal but as its in constant use I dont think I would get near it! The only place I can think of now is blackbushe airport as they have some disused tarmac at the other end of the auction site. I gather it used to be a runway and access roads. Wouldn't have a blue who to speak to though. Cheers
