Attempted burglary today!
Discussion
Hi guys
Today at 4.40a.m the scum was busy trying to crowbar the front wooden bay window casement open. Our dog was alerted when the dum f--k scum made too much noise. I was out of bed and downstairs in under 6 seconds. By the time I managed to get keys and unlock my level of security he fled in the get away car down the road. We had the TIv and the mrs mercedes on the drive. still trying to decide which one they fancied.
Anyway as you all know my full time profession, please, please make shure that your properties are as secure as possible. I am always available to offer you all advice including any PH members that I may have had the occasional little handbag disputes with.
The Tiv is now locked up in her secure hiding place. family all O.K which is No.1.
Please take the time to review your security over the weekend especially your garage door locks!

My guess would also be that the theiving scum were after the Merc. The Sag would be a great big beacon to police, stand out too much and be difficult to move on. If they wanted to cone it and use it, they'd probably have to respray first - too much hassle.
Glad they got away empty handed and all is OK with your family.

All is good lads,
I just thought it was a wake up call to us all to make sure that your home security is top dollar. Remember that with car security at it's best, the easiest way for them to get away with your pride and joy is having access to your car keys.
Therefore your flat/house is the next target. Make sure that you have top locks on front, back and side entrance doors. Ground floor window locks and 1st floor if they can have access from flat roofs, Alarm system, additional outside security lighting etc, etc.
Do not leave any form of keys in sight through your front door letter box. Keep all keys walletts out of sight. I know this is common sense, but we all neglect these basic checks every know and again.
On a positive note the Sag is back from STR8SIX and the windscreen replacement is top dollar. Very happy. Will report on diff and gearbox upgrades very soon once all has run in and bedded in nicely.

One of my biggest worries, especially with a little one in the house - glad all is well and they got nada.
I installed this http://www.securitydirect.uk.com/door_locks_garage... along with the normal garage lock and park the wifes car in front of the door when possible.

The type of 'security' that normally lives in a secure metal box that has 2 chambers I hope?
It could be either car but I know SL merc's are high on the nick list at the moment as we had a similar issue.
On a lighter note, about 12 months ago I overheard the local scrotes who walk past my TIV say 'I bet that would make a good joy ride'
his mate said 'f**k no them cars don't have ABS or traction control I don't want to kill myself in it'Shep
Two things that havent been considered;
1) TVR's are potential targets, they're just targets over seas IMHO, I am almost surprised there arent more heading over to the middle east...
2) Do you really want these scumbags to come after you/ your family to get to the keys?
On point 2, without wishing to sound like a 'man from the internet' - I would love someone to try and take the keys from me personally... I would be irrationally voilent in response - stupidly so, as it is just a car, but I know I would be... would I want my family involved? No. They're only cars, they're insured. Keep safe folks, but dont risk yourselves/ families over something replaceable.

Unfortunatley we were burgled about 2 months ago while asleep upstairs. None of us heard anything including my 10 year old son (luckily) anything of any value from down stairs stolen inc tv's game consoles a whole bookshelf full of 200 dvd's and games right down to an electric can opener and mini vac. They also took covers of the suite in the conservatory and my wifes car. I had my keys in my pocket upstairs. Only found out when we were woken by 2 cops coming into the bedroom at 4:30am.
Not a nice feeling and worse for my wife and son. House now fully secure spent a small fortune on security, dont want this happening again.

We had the same, Audi taken, Cerb and my car left untouched (keys upstairs) - house now like fort-knox. We were told to make it 'look' as secure as possible too, as it is more about the initial deterrent/ look of a challenge that puts off 99% of burglars. It's the 1% that plan things properly that worry me now. Not a nice feeling and worse for my wife and son. House now fully secure spent a small fortune on security, dont want this happening again.
