Here she is:

The car is just stunning to look at. Twice today, whilst I've had the car parked, I've had people walk up to it, ask what it is, and tell me it's beautiful

Driving impressions - there is so much torque! It pulls in any gear from 1000 rpm upwards. It seems that most 'normal' driving can be done in the 1000 - 2500 rpm range. Above that, **** does this car fly! It makes the Boxster that I had, seem like a milkfloat! I was in 3rd, and thought it was time to change up to 4th. Didn't realise I was doing nearly a ton before going into 4th! Sometimes it's difficult to remember what gear you are in, as it pulls so well in all the gears. Cruising at 90, in 6th gear, the engine sems to be doing less than 2k rpm.

An amazing car, I love it!

V8HSV - Here's the reason for the name - I used to run and restore Commodores as a hobby in the '90's. I took the GS/E over to Germany a few times for the owners club meets there. I sold the last one in 2000, thinking that that was the end of Commodores, for me. But as we all know, the Monaro is a Commodore coupe (or its spiritual successor) so when Vauxhall announced the Monaro - I just knew I had to have one Anyway, I've shortened my login to GSE

I've been enjoying the Monaro all weekend. Done 350 miles so far. I'm amazed at how fast it is, and how good the handling is. The ride seems a little 'choppy' over rough surfaces, but the ultra comfy seats make up for this. The gearchange felt a bit stiff at first, but it seems to be loosening up now. The traction control is a bit weird - when it activates it seems to push the throttle pedal back up - it feels very strange. But with the TC off - it's very easy to lay rubber It would be nice if I could work out how to use the cruise control and computer, but I don't have a manual. Apparently Vauxhall had to recall them at the last minute, due to errors in the servicing schedule. I'm told one will be 'in the post' on Monday.

Paul

I stand corrected (never meant to offend) and am pleased you are enjoying the car.

Will - not offended at all - when I mention the Commodore, most people just give me a puzzled expression and say "old computer?" It's nice to find a place where people know what they are

uk hsv - I've e-mailed some more pics of my Monaro to you to go in the gallery. It will be nice to be no1 for a change!

I have a couple of mods planned for the car - the LSV stage 1 upgrade (so that I can actually hear the engine..) and an upgraded audio system. The standard fit system is not very good at all.

I hope we see some more new Monaro owners turn up on here too.

Paul.

(... my computer has logged me in as CommodoreGS/E again.... must delete that and come back next time as GSE ... )

Nice car GSE! The stereo's aren't that bad! Try replacing the speakers first ! They are the week link I think you will find!!! Admittedly the stereos don't do your magic traffic warnings ae whatever they are! Some od the fellows in Oz have 2 amps connected to the stock headunit and the upgraded stock one with in built 6 stacker.
I recently sent an item to ukhsv! He might put a picture of it up! It is an Original equipment cover for the Stereo area..might be good for filling in the hole!

"motomk" is our man down under so he collected the plate in Melbourne for you!

Can it be made to take a single din unit or have you made a template from it? if so are you going to make a few for other owners?

Will be useing the plate as a template but will have
to wait till i have the car so as to get location points for mounting.I plan on covering the metal with film to match exsisting carbon fiber (look alike)detail.Once i get the first one done i'll make up a few and make them available.
