Gents,
I'm about to book my car in to the local BMW indi for a service, gearbox oil change and new disks and pads all round. Is it worth my while shopping around for discks and pads to take with me or would I be just as wel getting him to fit OEM items from the local stealers parts dept?

Thanks.

If it's not an M5, you'll be just as well to get some discs from ECP and use OEM pads with them.

Best bet is to get him to quote for them so you can compare before committing.

Get your Indy to recommend some parts. He will probably source from ECP or GSF. Let him do the sourcing.

My Indy fits Brembo. £30 for a set of front pads on my E39 (£60 fitted) just a few months ago. I've also fitted Textar with no issues. From memory the original BMW pads were Jurid.

Check your brake prices against a dealers value servicing price offer - I got discs and pads all round for about £450 an E46 330d at a dealer last year. Wasnt worth doing it myself as IIRC the parts were about £350-£400 from EBC.

I've bitten the bulett and booked it in to the indi, he doesn't take the piss and since theres so much work to be done (service / disks& pads / gearbox oil / noisy tensioner) I'd rather get it done in one hit.
