Just wondering how many standard production cars came with forged engines?

Can you be a bit more specific? Lots come with some bits that are forged, pistons, rods, crank etc Or do you mean the block itself?

Pretty sure the Evo 8 FQ400 had a forged engine. Makes sense that a low capacity big power block would.

To what extent and to do what with?

MKIV Supra TT or a 03/04 Mustang Cobra might be worth a look if it's tuning ability you're thinking of.

Over 1100hp on stock internals running a compound boost setup (supercharger and twin turbos) biggrin

Was just a thought for future car purchases. I suppose it offers a higher margin of safety. Plus as mentioned tuning potential.

S2000 has forged internals.

Good for around 500 - 600 BHP apparently on the standard head gasket, although the clutch will slip long before that.

Theres a turbo kit for over 900 BHP (pro somthing or other, I forget the name) and that runs the standard block, not sure about internals, but there seems to be a large safety net there.

You're gonna hate this, but just about every turbo diesel ever made has a forged steel crank (and a lot have pretty dam good rods and pistons too.........

(gasoline Pmax approx 100bar, Diesel Pmax is approx 160-200 bar !)

thought all blocks were cast only the internal were forged on certain (usually turbo engines) so there is no forged engine?

I think so - can certainly be taken safely to 400+bhp.
