Anyone have any experience of flying with this airline? They have been put forward as one of my options for flying from Dubai to Seoul in a week or so. I would normally avoid like the plague but they are about 30% cheaper than Emirates/Etihad/Qatari.

Yeah they're OK. Not as good as Emirates but still OK.

Hmmm.....

Air China I would definitely fly again.

China Southern, I would probably avoid. This is based on last year though, and I'm not a great flyer.

Used to fly internally in China all the time with these folks.

Bizarre freeze-dried vegetables as snacks served sometimes, all-in-all vary basic in all aspects, but clean and comfortable.

No real issues, but Air China has a very new fleet, and I'm a nervous passenger!

Southern used to have (at least what I flew on a year ago) fairly old 737s, rather than the brand spanking new Airbus A380s that Air China seem to have a lot of.

It's basically Ryanair, but in China (so worse, if you can believe it).

Air travel is actually I want to SPEND money on, a bit like brakes on the car, savings don't interest me where 40000 feet is concerned. smile

Actually, all of China has a very good air safety record compared to other developing countries.

Pretty sure Air China don't have a single A380, let alone a lot of them. Bizarrely, China Southern DO have 5 A380s on order though.

Did you mean A320 perchance?

Dunno, it was night, and I'm no airline geek!

It was a 3/5/3 seat Airbus with an upstairs, which I assumed was a 380, but I guess not.

Anyway, it was practically brand spanking new, which put me at ease.

The brown-seated (70s) Boeing I flew on last year with Southern didn't fill me with confidence.

Anyway, who cares if they've got them on order when they're still flying round old crocks now!

Southern have almost as many new-ish A320s as they do old 737, so I guess it's pot luck which you get.

Air China don't have any Airbus A380s, and that is the only Airbus that has an upstairs, so I've no idea which 'plane you flew on!?
