HiSpec 283mm Billet 4 Brake upgrade for an early Griff
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm currently in the process of upgrading the brakes on my Griff 400 (Currently running the early 240mm discs). Am I correct in thinking that it has the basic 1.6 Ford Sierra hubs and thats what I need to quote to get the correct caliper mounting brackets?
I've done a search on here and I can see this has been covered before but with conflicting opinion. As i'm a mechanical numpty I want to make sure I order the correct kit!
cheers,
Will

The 285mm Billett 4 conversion is for a Sierra hub carrier and will fit under a 15 inch wheel, the only difference to the Ford hub carrier from the standard Ford item is that the bottom ball joint has be nachined for a larger taper to accept the Lada ball joint from the TVR lower wishbone, these were machined by TVR.
The two sizes are 240mm disc on early cars and 260mm disc on later cars, mine was the 240mm type originally, within the kit you get a machine aluminium block which bolts to the Ford hub (original caliper mounting) and the new caliper bolts to the block. I have seen the kit fitted on later cars that would have had a 260mm fitment.
You can reference the hub casting number to Hi-SPec to be sure, i recall they are 3 digit number.

I remember reading an account by a PH'er here last year of some work which ended in him wining a court case against them. It seems to have been deleted though. Yellowgriff I think.
Yes there was but in fairness that was to do with the rears they do - quite a few on here have the fronts with no probs at all.Gassing Station | Griffith | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
