The WSM is correct, just disconnect the lower rad hose and let it all drain.
The Water/AF Mixture ration won't have any effect on the HG. Just use a good AF. The Halfords stuff is what I always use - a lovely flourescent pink colour. I;d say 50/50 is about right.
When you refill it, park it with the nose slightly up, this allows for air to bleed through to the highest point. Undo the top filling bolt on the radiator - at the top on the drivers side - and fill through the expansion bottle until water comes out of the radiator fill plug. Put the expansion bottle cap on, and use the radiator fill plug for final topping up.

^^ What he said, i use the blue in mine but peoples opinions vary. It really will make a difference lifting the nose when refilling so dont ignore that bit!

If you have access to a lift / pit then another option for draining it is to remove the hose off the bottom of the engine (towards the RHS of the car) and catch the water in a large dustbin.
It does drain everything as it connectd to the water pipe just behind the rad which is the same pipe as the bottom rad pipe goes on to and also I found it easier to access.
The large dustbin helps reduce the amount of mess you'll make.
I know the method I use isn't 100% as per the manual but it works.

If you refill with red AF then please flush the system out wellfirst as it does no mix withothere colour AF and goes jelly like as I understand.
You do need a decent strenght mix as it has corroision inhibitors in but water has better cooling effect than AF so go with the book, 33% AF should be fine to at least -25C and we don't often get below that.
