Hi guys, my Renault Sport Clio 182 will need a service in the next few months. Basic oil and filter change really.

Can anyone recommend a decent garage local to the south side of Glasgow? I wont use Kenny Brown as he is exceptionaly pricey for the work involved?

Anyone?

Regards, Dan

Without meaning to sound unhelpful any garage should be able to do an oil & filter change without cocking it up. Why not get a set of ramps and do it yourself, 30 mins work & you know its done right.

Really im paying for the stamp in the book, the oil and filter change is a piss case.

Selling these cars with anything but a fully documented history, like most cars, is not!

So Dan, do you want a service, or just an oil and filter change? They are two entirely different things.

So you don't have a comparable quote from Kenny Brown but you decided to post that he will be "exceptionaly expensive" anyway.

If you are going to make critical comments about someones livelihood then you should back it up with an explanation of the facts so we can all make an informed decision as to whether you are correct or just making snide comments.

Andrew Baird aka Automek in College Milton in EK. Very reasonably priced, been using him for a few years now for various jobs that I can't be arsed doing and never had an issue smile Can pass on his number if you like? He's based just near the McDonalds if you know EK.

There's also "Frankfit" in EK, opposite the Boulevard van hire place. I've used them for years. They're two good guys. The older one even comes with a free racist diatribe (but they do good work).

Well "mate" if if you did'nt want me making it my business then you should'nt have made the comment about Kenny Brown in the first place.

You said he was "exceptionaly pricey for the work involved" even although you had not bothered to get a quote from him. I have used him for 15 years and have always found him to be very professional and reasonably priced. I think it ony fair that if you make adverse comments about someones business on a public forum you should be prepared to justify them.

You use this as your reason for not wanting to use Kenny brown...

but then you have posted this only a few months ago where you appear to be recommending Kenny Brown.

I also have a Clio 182 and Kenny Brown Motor Sport (Glasgow) is undertaking the work in March.

He is very familiar with the F4R engines that are in the RS Clio's (i am on my 3rd now) so he knows what he is doing. It is advised that you do the water pump whilst doing the cambelt also.

He qouted me £300 for labour (im supplying the water pump and belt kit)

Hope this helps!
My advice to you would be don't make defamatory posts about people trying hard to make a living if you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Defamatory? Are you on crack?!? I said the guy was expensive not incompetent! His work man ship is tremendous, probably the best ive seen in fairness - at no point in my post did i question the quality of his work. I merely stated that i was quoted one price once booked in and charged another on collection, simple mistake or not, it was an expensive one - for which, i wont re-visit.

I certainly dont need to make my posts any clearer for you if you dont have a suggestion why bother posting anything in the first place? Because you swear by Kenny Brown that means i have to make myself clearer? I dont give a rats tit if you suck Kenny Brown off for free oil changes the fact of the matter is i was bent over for what was essentially a pre-arranged price, simple as. For you to suggest i dont know what im talking about is laughable.

You have reminded me why i dont use this forum much.

Are you still at school by any chance?

The point of my post is that you have made a comment on a public forum that Kenny Browm Motorsport is exceptionaly expensive which from experience I know is not true. If all you wanted was to find a recommendation for a garage to do an oil change why mention Kenny Brown at all?

This is the Scottish Forum and many of its users are potential Kenny Brown customers, you may not think so but your throwaway comment has the ability to be damaging to his business. If you have a grievance with Kenny then sort it out with him rather than making inaccurate comments on the internet.

Its expensive TO ME, maybe not the high rollers, but to me it is/was.

I left it clear that i didnt want to use Kenny Brown YOU opted to go down the route of asking for an explanation as to why, i explained why, your not happy - i dont give a fk!

Listen mate, i dont care if you think hes reasonable or not, im telling you why, if you dont like it, I COULDNT CARE LESS, give it up!

TBH if true that could be pretty good value assuming you get fully synthetic oil and a filter included too - I may give Kenny a call...
