Whipping Off THE Top... Whose done it the fastest??

Well I whipped Babs' top off at 20mph today.
Completely under control and with great finesse.

It got me thinking... How fast can you do it before it either tears the top to pieces/tears her top clean off/pulls your shoulder clean out of it's socket.

Around 60 mph...hadn't latched it down properly


It cracked the rear window, but it was the sense of terror which really got me.There was an almighty bang and I found myself in a situation that would compare to the T-rex toilet scene in Jurassic Park.

I put the top down at about 30mph the other day, no problems apart from the last 6 inches, couldn't quite do that.

i can do it in a couple of seconds, the problem comes when putting on the toneau!

Getting it up at 50 took 2 of us.

I've done it at about 20mph on the North Circular.

Wouldn't recommend it - I have a glass rear window and I think it scared the hell out of the car behind.

I, and im not a girl, also have to stand to resurrect my roof. Its bloody heavy.

If you put a strap on it apparently makes it easier, just unscrew handle wrap and old seatbelt under and cut to length.
I struggle partly because bucket seats bulge out at shoulders and Roll bar means have to pass it from one hand to other over the top.

I'd never be able to get it up sitting down. I have to get out and stand up to do it... Especially with a roll cage in the way... Putting it down is easy though.

I think 20mph is my realistic limit though.

Put it down at about 20, mine never folds evenly so prefer to get out and put it down.

Can get it up at about 20 as well. Usually sit on my hand until it numb, quick reach around and then give it a good tug.......... Works Everytime. Once I'm done with that, I usually put the roof up.

My Rollbar is positioned exactly where the zip for the rear window goes, so it can get stuck and make it a pain in the arse. I've attached a Lanyard to it which helps when pulling, I can unzip the rear window in one movement if I'm lucky - zipping up can take longer as the zip gets stuck on said Rollbar.

I can flip mine back in a second or so. Takes a few seconds more to pull it back up.

All while seated.

Tend not to put it down while the car's moving.

Ive had the top down using one hand at about 75 ish, was easy! Pulled to inside lane of m25, unzipped window with one hand, then both latches and then slowly let it down as best i could. Was looking ahead for over 90% of the time too! I have long arms i think!

Ive also taken it off with the clock nudging 130 on a rather large hill on a French Toll Road, only it wasnt quite intentional and scared the living daylights out of me!!

My bloody hood bunches inbetween the 2 horitontal bars that move together when you lower the hood. Annoying.

I can put the hood up seated and one handed though.
