Next purchase likely to be one of these in the alternative. Any experiences of either? Even better has anyone been able to compare the two in the flesh? Both manufacturers seem to provide good customer service and care from what I can see.

Steinhart are well respected watches. They're meant to be well built. I like the look of them, but then I like Rolexes. It depends if you're bothered about wearing a homage. Personally, I'm not bothered.

Similarly to Steinhart I've not handled a CW, but they're, again, meant to be well built and solid watches. I think the Quartz ones are overpriced. Customer service is meant to be exceptional and the generous returns policy means you could hand it back if it turned out to not be for you.

I don't think you'd go wrong with either.

At that price range I'd also check out Tissot, and maybe some pre-owned Oris' - if you're ok with second hand that is.

If I had to choose between those two, it would be the Steinhart.

Bought an Ocean 1 Green few weeks ago for £300 direct from Steinhart, delighted. Looks and feels like a much pricier watch, great for everyday use though agree it is a Rolex homage. Steinhart good to deal with too. Nothing against CW but can't go wrong at this price IMO.
