Might be worthwhile changing the sender unit to the gauge, mine used to over-read and give me palpitations, changed the sender and gauge now reads 30*f lower.

I am sure I have a spare sender that I bought off Fleabay
but has a different thread size on a 400 so no use to me

Let me know if you want me to send you it Jeff
unless you are coming down to Cars In The Park
at Newby Hall Ripon next week

Someone told me the sender is matched to the gauge, my guage is doing strange things & I suspect the sender, how do you check this?

Yes was told by Richard Thorpe from RT racing a couple of weeks ago.

best ring him and ask the question direct

When I managed to get a sender that fitted the hole in the block on the 400 then
it was reading too low (or high can't remember which) so on the advice
of Richard Thorpe we just fitted an adjustable rheostat(?) that you get for pence from Halfrauds
that you let the car get up to running temp then set at 90 degrees

You can't get the correct sender for the 400s anymore so this is the only easy solution
and since then mine has worked superbly.
