Anyone else had problems with Tesco momentum???

Just asking to see if its only my car that doesnt like it but since the swap from 99 to momentum every time i fill my tank with it my car starts messing about.
It takes a good few miles for the idle to become normal & the car does not boost as well.
I have tried it from differant stations over the last few months & the problems occur every time within a couple of miles of it being filled.
For the record i have never had any problems running on V power so is it just me???

The few times I used it I really wasn't impressed. I tried it on three of my recent cars (FRS,Alfa V6 and M5) and none of them liked it. No idea why. V Power has always been my favourite but is now so expensive I've stuck with Sainsburys Super Unleaded which the M5 seems more than happy with.
I had problems in an old car with tesco 99.
Don't think it liked the ethanol? content used to make it 99 the engine died a death on a hot day up a hill so never used tesco fuel again in the last 4 years or so.
Just spend the extra couple of pence on V power as its cheaper than a new engine and runs better/better mileage on it as well.

Yes, this Saturday I filled my Morgan,with old Kent 1600 engine,and a gallon can with momentum at Tesco Axminster. Then drove to paintball near Bristol. Car had been about 1/4 full before. On leaving paintball site at 5.00pm the car would start but not tick over. Drove the 60 odd miles home and it didn't feel right, traffic was heavy at 45-ish so didn't get chance to see if it would pull. Sunday we only went a couple of miles but still a bit lumpy. Tuesday (today 05.07.11)it will fire but not start up properly. Must be half a tank left.
More tellingly , the can was for the lawnmower which had run right out.When I filled it with the Momentum it would start but only ran fitfully at half revs. I removed and cleaned the plug and cleaned the air filter - which is about all you can do to a Briggs and Stratton. This had no effect whatever.
As both car and mower were running perfectly the day before buying Momentum ,and had been for years,this seems too much of a coincidence.
I set off for work in another car and called into the Tesco garage and explained ,politely , to the staff what had happened, I said that I was not after a refund or anything as I had chucked the reciept anyway, but that if, for instance ,I had been heading for Scotland with the family and luggage etc I would not be pleased to find myself stuck on the hard shoulder.
Obviously they are only working the tills and cannot be expected to know much or care at all. I suggested that perhaps the tank needed checking and they said that they had a meter for water contamination and it was o.k. One lady said she uses the stuff in her car and no problems.
However , as I usually fill the Morgan with super unleaded from any garage and the mower with anything and have never had problems, I shall be avoiding Momentum like the plague.
This evening I shall empty the mower and refill with Esso super unleaded.If it runs o.k it may prove some sort of point and I will do the same with the car. If it still won't run then kindly ignore the above.
My main point is that ,if I get problems with two bog-standard ,simple engines ,normally aspirated, what sort of problems are you injected, chipped and generally souped up chaps going to get.

My experience is the opposite. Tesco 99/Momentum is the best fuel out there, better than V Power.
It's especially good with turbocharged cars that need to control detonation.
I remember Evo did a fuel comparison, including the above two, using a GT3. Using Tesco 99 saw, the GT3 made pretty substantial increases in torque and power.

That's what I was thinking! Excellent 
I've used Momentum for a tank in the Audi, out of interest. Fairly primitive 90s V6 seemed to not care at all, drove the same, but appeared maybe 5% less economical. And this is compared to me usually using Morrison's or Sainsburys' standard 95RON..
Maybe I should throw some V-Power in to see how that does. Shan't be using Momentum again, that's for sure - no problems, but definitely no gain and quite possibly a slight loss of economy (from which you'd assume also a slight loss of power).
Once I had an old Suffolk Super Punch mower and ran out half way through the lawn. Being skint, as always, and needing to finish it before the wife came home, I put a litre of surgical spirit into the tank ( it was in the shed when we moved in and I didn't like to chuck it away).
It fired straight away and took off down the garden like a rocket, I had to run to keep up and it was bouncing off all the bumps in the lawn and missing great chunks of grass.It only did once up and down the garden before it was all gone so I had to go and buy some petrol anyway, but it was fun at the time.

I too prefer Momentum and seem to get a bit better economy from it. I was passing a Shell when my light last came on so Shell Vpower is my current tank. Car was very unhappy with the heat yesterday. Probably havent been that hot in the past few weeks, but Momentum seems to cope well with the heat.
