I stayed just down the road in Ostins, turtle beach is just a regular all inclusive resort. You'll have far more fun leaving the hotel and going to town where they have the fish fry and partying with the locals on the beach. Totally safe, the Mrs and I were out drinking with the local chaps until the early hours most nights and walked home the half mile or so alone no problems. Turtle beach is a taxi or rasta bus away but I'd be making the effort to go out.

We stayed at Turtle The Beach a couple of years ago. It's a good place with decent rooms and service, and respectable quality food. As mentioned above, you'll want to go up to Oistins and other buzzing areas to really enjoy yourself, but the hotel has nice pools and plenty of sunloungers for flopping on. The beach staff don't control the ubiquitous travelling salesmen (baskets, aloe vera, etc), but they don't bother you after you politely say no.

Be careful - even though it's all-inclusive, they do make an unusually strong daily rum punch which can whisk your legs away from you when you least expect it. drunkheadache

Taxis/Rastabuses are easy to get and the locals are a good laugh. I'd certainly recommend it.

Best rum punch is at Cutters ... opposite the entrance to the Crane .. utterly gorgeous ... hic !
