Door Lock won't open
Discussion
I'm fairly new to this TVR lark, but have a W-reg Chimaera 450.
The problem is that the driver's side door lock refuses to open when you push the button under the mirror. The passenger side one is fine.
When pushing the driver's sie mirror button I can hear a relay clicking somewhere in the dashboard, so the button itself seems to be fine.
The garage tried cleaning and tightening the connectors tucked away behind the door pillar, and although this seemed to cure it for a few days, I'm back at the embarrasing method of having to open the passenger door and twiddle the interior knob to get in!
Anyone have any ideas?

If you press the button and nothing happens - chances are the wires have rusted through at the connection to the button. Fairly easy DIY repair to put in a new button (or repair the old one).
If the button works and the relay clicks but the door doesn't open - the door solenoid has gone phut - this can happen with water ingress. Bit of a pain as a DIY job. May be better having someone look at it.
If the solenoid clicks and nothing happens - could be your door is "sticky" or the mechanism has drifted and needs setting up properly again. Again, better to get someone else to do it in my humble opinion (and I design mechanisms! - but I'm lazy)
Hope this helps. I've had problems 1 and 2 and I've got a reccurance of number 1 right now.Doh!

Thanks guys. Should have thought about doing a search -- sorry.
It sounds like the solonoid is either getting tired or out of alignment. I discovered that if I lean against the door to force it in slightly when I hit the button it seems to open more reliably, so maybe the mechanism needs a tweak.
I'll get it checked out next week.
Thanks again
Hugh
