Hi guys.

I got my t350 up on axle stands yesterday to fix a few little problems. rear silencer mounts and such like.
While under there I found the outriggers had started to rust. so the outta paint has cracked and come off and surface rust on the riggers themselves.
I think I am going to need to lift the body off to get around the outriggers properly. Can I just lift the body enough each side to get at the metal that needs doing? if so is this a pig to do? I want to keep the car for as long as I can.

with that in mind. what treatment would you guys recommend and what paint to use once the job is completed.

failing all that. how much would it be for a garage to undertake the job.

Thanks all in advance smile

Age/mileage/pics (of the effected area and the car - what colour is it out of interest?)

Possibly nothing too serious yet? body-off is rather involved (or atleast it is in a Cerb, can't imagine it being any easier on a T-car?)

If the rust area is easy to get at I would strip the rust back treat it and re-paint If done well it will last a while . If you can't get at it then it's a body off which will be ££££. I have seen some people cut throught the fiberglass floor of the interior of the TVR and cut out and remove the out riggers ,then re attach the new outrigger and weld up from inside of the car. Then patch up the fiberglass area that was cut, probably cheaper than body off, but as good? can't say, but body off would be a last resort but it depends how bad the rust is.

ok ill get some pics up sharpish.. thanks for the quick responses guys smile

as i said its only surface rust. so not rot thro. but its curled round to the outside of the car where the bottom of the sill would be. its only 30 cm or so.

i would not say its bad. but im fickle and want my car as good as it can be smile

i do not want to take the whole body off. wiring etc. is it do'able to just lift the affected side enough to get at the affected area?
failing that to just lift the whole body enough (couple inches at most)?

light surface corrosion does not necessitate a full body off rebuild, lets see photos before jumping to that... eek

Still want to know year and mileage too!
