996 Turbo Oil consumption
Discussion
I am using a litre of oil per 1500 miles of hard(ish) motorway driving ? Is this reasonable ? Also after a recent track day of approximately 80 miles on circuit (Brands Hatch Indy) I got through a half a litre. I was caning it all day but this seems a little high. I noticed drops coming off the rear passenger side wishbone from a issue higher up in the engine I presume. Other cars expect to drink a bit but is this normal for a 996TT – my 993 was not nearly as thirsty, and Boxster S never took a drop ! My car is '02 996 Turbo (Tip) with 34,00 miles with Mobile 1 0W40.

Thanks guys - nice to know.
Incidentally - I use Shell optimax - do you have a prefered fuel for your 996 TTs ?
Shame UK does not have 98 RON - I believe in Japan one can buy 103 RON in some filling stations - must be good for at least 10 more BHP.
...Optimax is 'at least' 98 RON, so it's the best fuel for any high-performance car. It's even been tested by EVO magazine and was deemed to live up to all the marketing hype.

Still monitoring consumption on my C2 but in the 3 months I've had the car it hasn't used any oil over a fairly hard 1,000 miles.
The turbocharged cars I've owned in the past tended to use between 1-2 litres every 1,000 miles.
Worst consumption I've had is 4 litres in 3 weeks covering 6,000 kms in my old M3 although it did get hooned to within an inch of it's life at the time.
