Rear hub.

I think I may have a bent rear hub [the bit with the 4 wheel studs] Are these Sierra? Is it possible to skim out any runout on a lathe? Any help welcome, cheers guys!

Yes, they are sierra, if you were to skim it wouldn't that upset the disc to caliper position slightly?

Hi Ant, I guess you're right but would say 10 thou cause much of a problem?

Even 20 thou no problem at all may be just easier getting a second hand one though any Ford Sierra fitted with ABS and rear disc brakes 2.0/2.0 Cosworth/2.8/2.9....... do you know its the hub flange that as run-out or the disc? if so when you measured from the disc is the flange face spotlessly clean where the disc mounts (good disc) and all 4 wheel nuts securing disc to hub for testing?

Hi Simon, I measured at the disc with it bolted up to the hub then measured the hub on the shaft which was 15 thou runout; I ampretty sure it's the hub but I tried to check the shaft but not conclusive so until I get the hub skimmed and back on I don't think I can be 100% sure; I'm hoping it's not the shaft, the hub and the disc but Murphy's Law says it's possible. Known to crap out when bearings changed John, was the bearing glued in?. You may be able to bore & sleeve the inner?

Hi Dave, the bearings were tight and OK but this corner took a hit when the car was damaged 7 years ago. I have skimmed the hub and installed new bearings and seals [something I should have done earlier] just in case; the disc is running out 4 thou now which I think is OK. Test drive in a day or two so fingers crossed. Sorry to miss you at Chatsworth, maybe next time, cheers John.
