I am looking at buying a 1995 Chimaera fairly soon & want to have a good look underneath to check wishbones wheel bearings etc, can anyone tell me where the jacking points are located, or is it a case of anywhere on the main chassis?
I have read Steve Heaths book cover to cover, any other points to look out for?
Cheers Andy.

The chassiss extends out to the rear of the front wheel arch and front of the rear wheel arch I THINK!! These are both well strog enough to use a jack on.

The chassis extends to the sills and there is a welded join with a nice flat point there which is accessible by a small trolley jack. I use that.

Please remember that the TVR is low to the ground, so the usual warning of not going underneath the car when it is jacked up applies here, EVEN WHEN THE TYRES ARE STILL ON.

I wouldn't advise jacking the car up on the outriggers for any length of time. They're not that strong, and there's a real risk that you'll either bend something, or crack bits of windscreen/bodywork as the chassis flexes.

I normally use the small jack supplied with the car to give me an extra inch of ground clearance by jacking on the outrigger. I can then slide a trolley jack underneath and jack up from one of the main chassis rails near the lower front wishbone mounts. Stick an axle stand under there, then jack up the other side and put another axle stand underneath. Plenty safe enough then to lie underneath, as long as the rear wheels are secured.

Cheers,
Pete
