fuel injector - what thread form is it?

Jesus, the misinformation in this forum is staggering. As any fule knows the injector thread for standard Bosch petrol injectors is 14mm x 0mm metric fine.
Get yourself down to your local engineering tool supplier and ask them for a 14mm x 0mm tap. They'll probably have one in stock. The tapping drill size is 17/32" so buy one of these too. While you're there you can pick up an imperial adjustable spanner to complement the metric one in your tool box.

THANKS _ FFS it is the FIRST petrol car I've worked on with injection - if that are push fit then fine - I have not taken them the fuel rail off yet - so do I just pull them or what !!!!

how are they kept in (presome O ring but don't know)

TBH, for the most part it is quite obvious how they are held in when you look at them.
I assume you have actually looked ?
There is an inlet manifold on one side, and a fuel rail on the other. Both of which are bolted together. It would be rather difficult for the injector to go anywhere.

Thanks Stevie - That was it - when I looked at the set up - remember it is the V6 24v - all I could see was fuel rail an below it the jumble of injector bodies and the electrical conections - I thought about taking the fuel rail out but wanted a bit more info before I did it so I did not end up with springs and things flying about.I assume you have actually looked ?

I now need to talk to someone who has fitted an extra injector into the plenum and how it was located. Probably a push fit with O ring will be ok as it never pressurises above atmospheric (not turbod).
I would love to know why the OP wants to fit an extra injector.
Is the engine modified, is it running lean at high rpm & WOT?
How do you propose to fire the injector?
You might find that all you need to do to fix the issue you think you have is change the fuel pressure regulator & the fuel pump.

Oh oh - hissy fit alert. Anyway SFB's, I was mainly having a pop at Stevieturbo for his usual crap advice saying petrol injectors are a push fit when he knows perfectly well they're a 14mm x 0mm metric fine thread. I ought to know. I used to make my own range of billet aluminium throttle bodies. We always used to make the injector holes with a 14mm x 0mm metric fine tap - or milling cutter as they're known in the trade.how are they kept in (presome O ring but don't know)

Simply search google for fuel injector and it should be fairly obvious why we are having a jest:

Why? why not just modify the stock Ford EEC IV fuel injection for more fuel at the top end than fit a crude 7th injector with its poor fuel distribution and all or nothing operation? the 7th injector was a popular mod on K/KE Jetronic Bosch systems some time back to get round its deficiencies
but your Ford ECU is far far more advanced than this system
in fact this was cutting edge fuel & spark engine management back in the day most unusual for Ford
possibly a throttle controlled switch-able resistor inline with the ECU coolant temperature probe/sensor wiring thus increasing fuel when necessary
or an after-market fuel pressure regulator
