windsurfer vs dinghy

I was a dinghy sailor for a number of years and have a yearn to get back to it but now I have the cash, I don't have the space or time. I was thinking about getting a windsurfer which is easier to store and transport. Never having windsurfed I wondered if those who had experience of both could compare and contract the owning and sailing experience. I have always been a 'hanging over the side' kind of sailor so I think a windsurfer may suit. How much training time would it take to get upright?
