Last night I noticed that when I got up the very top of the rev range the lights dimmed considerably.
What could be causing this?

I also had the interior fans on full and dash lights on.

Didnt try this stationary, only when on the (fast) move.

It's all to do with light, it's frequency and wavelength - as you approach the speed of light, you come closer to matching it's frequency, so your lights appear to get dimmer You should only have a problem in 4th and 5th
I have more trouble with the speed of sound with my precat

Did the limiter kick in Dusty, coz that may have made things dim twinkle etc etc

But the alternator would still be going full chat? Limiter only turns off ignition I thought?

Prehaps the alternator belt was slipping at this stage

I was going for a nice stretch, something to do with cuzza chasing in his Elise and big straight bits opening up in front of me!

I just gave the limiter a wee peck in 1st, 2nd and 3rd on a previous straight and hadnt noticed the dimming then, but I was on full beam and very very focused on the driving.

It was shortly after this on another straight I noticed as opening up whilst on the run. Only happens right up the top end of the revs but before the limiter. Probably happens around 5500-5800RPM at a guess and then returns to normal.

Alternator slip is a possibility but I thought it would have coped OK. Its not really that fast for RPM (well, it never happened on previous cars that rev'd to 8500RPM).
