Taking pictures of kitchens, advice sought

I already have a Canon 1000D dslr. The standard Canon 18-55 lens has an insufficiently wide angle for many kitchens, so I am thinking of getting a Tamron 10-24 lens (£350-odd of your English pounds). Any comments on that choice (I am aiming for good quality pictures suitable for brochures etc)?

And, of course, there is the question of lighting. I presume the ideal would be two or more flash units on stands, and I could do that if it was really necessary, but the time and space needed for the setup might be a problem. So how about a decent bounce flash?

Dunno about the Tamron but I have a Sigma 10-20 which is probably worth a look as an alternative
