Converting head lights for trip to Le Mans

I have a 60 plate C220 and have been wondering how to convert the headlights for driving in France, I have just had a quick look in the manual and it says to take it to a Mercedes Dealer once you get to the other country, obviously I am not going to do that so can anyone help with what I need to do

No, halogen. I did mean to put it in the original post

Buy some stick on adapters from Halfords and keep them in your glove compartment.

You won't need lights anyway and you have something if you get asked.

I did think of that, but as they are projector lights they don't have any markings on the headlight glass itself, suppose I could just keep them in the car just in case

Not sure if they are the same but I have an SLK which has a lever somewhere in the back of the headlight assembly. I let my local dealer do mine and I'm glad, it took them ages and lots of scratched arms from the mechanics. I think they had to loosen them off first to get to them. Luckily they didn't charge me.

At this time of year are you likely to be driving in the dark?

(I have to confess that I have never ever bothered with the headlight thing - even when I lived in France for a couple of years. If the headlights are load adjustable I just turn them down).

Great idea, I won't be driving at night anyway due to the amount of lager I will drinking during the day

MPH is right. It is what I do every time I go. It is more important to have the high vis vest (1 per passanger). The Gendarmes love to catch the English on this especially Le Mans week

Yep - this is the thing to do.

Have some strips for the lights in the glove box in case you get stopped though, along with your hi viz jacket, spare bulbs (insane requirement), etc.

Even at night though the chancers of getting stopped are minimal unless you are excessively speeding and get unlucky...

That's how to do (Xenons) on an E Class too.

I can do it but, yes, scratched arm time.

I use a make up mirror to see what I am doing and a pencil to flick the lever up or down. much better than fingers!
