Brake juddering

So I've got the grooved discs front and back and it was all fine but the dreaded juddering is back. A few stops from 160+ yesterday made it very bad, but by the time I'd got back home it was back to as it was before.

What next would people suggest to sort this??????

Not sure why it comes and goes on yours, but mine have been perfect since I had the discs skimmed on the car.

Get the discs ground on the car, this will ensure they are true, I would expect it to be the fronts, someone near you will have a machine.

Hi Joust it's because they are a solid disc if AP did a 2 part disc it would be better , over the winter I fitted new Hubs and bearings and guess what ..... Yep first track day the judder came back !!!! On the upside at Silverstone last week the brakes improved alot and seemed to get smoother as the evening went on !!! As others have suggested skimming on the car seems to fix things but there was some concerns that skimming the grooved disc could not be done , be interested in your results :-)

I've had mine done with no problems, remember the machine grinds the disc, the trick is to get the operator to remove the absolute minimum, if I had one of those machines I would be doing it every month.

I've had all my discs skimmed while on the car (fronts are grooved, rears are drilled) and it worked wonders. The squeel is returning (1 year later) and so must be due to the hubs not being true.

Lots of us have had this and spent loads and hours on , drilling out the old holes to clean, new discs, new pads, geometry etc etc etc, all to no avail. I took mine to James down here at South West Lotus Centre, just after he brought the machine to skim discs on the vehicle. What a difference, I sorted mine, can't rate this method enough and its not that expensive, well worth a try imho

Yes they will - simple task which will determine whether the best route is replacement hubs (large increase in run out >12-14 thou) or just skimming the disk on the car which will negate a smallish run-out. PS if you do change the hubs you will still need to skim the old disks as they will have high spots from the out-of-true hubs. If you replace both hubs and disks (as I did a few years ago)you will have the best sensation ever (or nearly ever) in braking hard with not even the slightest hint of vibration through the steering wheel.

Hmm..sounds like you just need a bit of copper slip on the back of the pads. If your hubs were out the main symptom would be vibration on braking.

I used these people www.castlesportscars.co.uk a bit further down the M11, and they are not the most organised mob I've ever dealt with, but they do have a machine,

I have bid on a couple of machines on Ebay, but no luck so far, such a useful tool.

What nice chaps. Apparently they can sort out any run-out issues so all booked in for next Thursday.
