has anyone heard 'don't sit down cause I've moved the chair'? it's utterly brilliant and completely different for them

It is a bit harder than the Monkeys old stuff and it's the right way to go IMO, great song and it sounded brilliant live at the Big Weekend yesterday.

It's the only track they've done that I even remotely like, so I'm sure most fans hate it. smile

Don't get your hopes up. Having seen them play a few times, my verdict is that they're complete dog ste live.

I wasn't disappointed when I saw them at Trafford cricket ground. Then again I was muntered.

Each to their own I guess. I love their music, but Alex James is a miserable git, they leave long gaps between songs with nothing but him mumbling some incoherent nonsense and they don't have any 'presence' - they just sort of stand there like statues, play their songs and bugger off at the end.

Really good band, but not a great live act.

Yeah, I watched them on Jools Holland the other day. They look totally emotionless when performing. They seem a litlle 'up themselves' tbh which is a shame

I thought Alex James was quite a cheery bloke, I don't know about Alex Turner though.

Ah bks, yeah I meant Alex Turner. wobble

Alex James is a member of a far superior outfit, and is meant to be a rather pleasant chap.

We had a discussion about this the other day, prompted by my kicking over of a garden chair whilst saying this as my housemate went to sit on it, reading this at the time on my phone.

Sums it up well, she's a long-time Monkey's fan and isn't so sure, I've never been that into them, a couple of songs I like, but not really, however this has changed the game.

changed the game? i agree, but its a lazy change and a big leap towards dad/pub rock.

the arctics are somewhat hit n miss to my ears but album by album they've taken steps towards the safe and dull.

They started out with some absolutely cracking singles, "When The Sun Goes Down", "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" and "Fake Tales Of San Francisco", and I thought they were going to be a great band to look out for. However, album by album they have descended into dull trudging noise and I've lost all interest in them.

I'd not heard it. So went looking and found the video on YouTube.

Looks and sounds like Oasis 20 years ago, but safe and dull.

I thought I would given the new track a listen. Bad move on my part, such a craptastic tune. The first album had some right corkers on it, but they now suck balls

It seems very much those who didn't like their music, quite enjoy the almost "grunge-y" tones.

Whereas those who have previous been listeners don't seem to like it.

I quite like the "grunge-y" side

My verdict on the new album. 4/10!

Had a first initial listen when it came out, 2 good songs, everything else ste/all the same. But listened to it many times over and was starting to like it until I listened to the first album tonight, followed by favorite worst nightmare. They sounded so good.

So nightmare, I think, is how I'd sum up the new album. Hit and miss just like that 3rd album!
