Looking for a UNBIASED opinion on this ECU system

It comes with a wideband kit
You can set the required idle speed
Required a/f target for WOT,idle, and cruising at X% throttle position
Live data with fault reader
Comes with harness already built for easier installation
Clever computer -the more you drive the more it learns
Very easy set up(all doable at home)
To good to be true?
I cant seem to find any thing wrong with it?
Why has no one used this on a Tvr?
Remember im asking (nicely
) for a UNBIASED opinion
Thanks
Alex

Unbiased opinion would be that the cost of that is approx $990 inc postage, which is £610 at todays exchange rate without the credit card adding something to it.
Then add 20% VAT and 5% import duty and £15 for Parcel Force to tell you its in the UK, means a total of £779.
Very expensive for a fuel only system, you could have wasted spark mappable ignition as well as mappable fuel for less than that.
Hows that for unbiased

But with that you still need to make your own loom, connectors, no wide band, plus rolling road time
Right there is a fair few hundred pounds
I was planning on using megajolt-omex for the ignition
and the megajolt doesnt need its own wiring + set up on rolling road?Right there is a fair few hundred pounds

I'm sure V8D do a megasquirt kit for about £450 which I believe is about ready to fit. I will be looking more closely at this in the winter but on 1st impressions that will probably be what I go for.

If the kit is £450 and lets allow £550 for a full mapping session then does that mean the fitting alone at V8D = £1500? (guess 25 hours @ £60)
Seems steep.
They quote £2500 fr a drive in and out service.
Ah yes but your forgetting how difficult it is to install, and a numpty like me would take one look at the wiring diagram and run a mile.......or not lol Seems steep.

The ignition wiring is a walk in the park in comparison and 1-2 hours MAX on a rolling roadJonyTVR said:

Where as the kit I posted is 90% plug and playdbv8 said:

And still doesn't come with a wideband sensor, and will have to be retuned if you change your engineSeems steep.

ounds like you have made up your mind already
so just get it
then you can tell us all how disappointed you are and how things did not go to plan

Yes be a pioneer like me. I can feel a lot of people waiting for me to declare the next time my engine explodes then the hum of 'we told you so' rippling across the country

Of course i could go on to say how good the Megasquirt gear is and that Phil at http://www.extraefi.co.uk/ is a cracking chap to deal with
but then noticed the post title says unbiased so I won't

Being able to critique and not bang ones own drums seems a subtle distinction that gets lost on many here
What exactly does the offer include as 'wideband kit'?
Typically VEMS like products (can't think of any others TBH) offer the ability to plug in just the sensors (@£50) whereas others require interim boxes to emulate narrowband (0-5v) pushing the cost upto £150...
There are others that can be self mapping based on wideband (&even knock) so I wouldn't class that as an exceptional feature if that is what you are thinking - it's just that it doesn't always work as expected and relies heavily (read catastrophic) on what the wideband says (lies/miscalibrated...) Great if all works.. kerplunk if not...?

As far as im aware, the wideband and the ecu work together to make a map, then using the wideband less and less and if any of the items fail or go in to fault it runs a limp mode to get you homeAnd yeah I know what your saying about great if it works, and could just as easily not
I guess there's only one way to find out, im just not sure my pockets are deep enough to buy 2 systems
