Caterham Roadsport and the Yorkshire Moors...

On Friday my girlfriend and I headed up to York to pick up a Caterham Roadsport for the day from Scott and Lynda at Roadsport Hire.

Over 7 hours we covered just under 220 miles on some amazing roads all over the Yorkshire Moors, and the Caterham blew me away. I have always wanted a Caterham and it totally exceeded my expectations, if any of you are looking for an amazing day out I would recommend looking them up!

Caterhams are hard work but they repay EVERYTHING you put into them - great cars.

Had a play in one of BaT's R300's on Monday at Donington...such a beautifully balanced car...chasing a Gen-2 997 GT3 and keeping up (except on the Dunlop straight! ) was sublime!

I imagine on a track they must be amazing! Considering how quick the 125 was I bet the R300 must be something else.

How was your hearing afterwards? My right ear was slightly deaf as a result of the addictive exhaust and the crackles and pops everytime you let off the throttle

(Serious answer - not too bad - a proper lid gives your ears some needed padding)

On track you want the extra power - our first time in R300's and they're definitely worth the step up from a standard Superlight - enough poke to give you options all the way through a corner, and to keep up with most stuff in the straights. I've driven a Roadsport 150 on the road briefly and it felt powerful enough for road use, unless you're a nutter!


I keep mulling over whether I'd have one for the road...fantastic to drive, but hard work and VERY selfish. Not a road-trip car, certainly not for a couple...so I guess more of a 4-wheeled bike in application.

Wow, that looks amazing. I would love to do that, looking at their website though you need to be 25 (unsurprisingly!) so have got a year and a bit to wait. Better start hinting to the other half
