Good or stupid idea?

Basically, I've landed a new job and it is paying a bit more a year than I was expecting. This has now changed my mindset a bit on what car to get for the daily commute
Now I was all set on just spending around 4-5k on a good runner with around 50,000 miles on the clock and hope that it turns out to be a gooden. However, I've been looking a fair bit recently at the Kia Pro-Ceed, mainly the 1.4 Strike such as this one http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2011...
While not the most exciting of cars to drive, they are styled quite well in my opinion and all 2010 models onwards come with the remaining balance of the 7 year warranty that Kia now provide. There are quite a few of these around the 8000 mark which have around 10k miles on them. This would require me taking out a bit of a loan to fund the extra cost.
Quite simply, my question is whether my line of thinking is right or whether i'm completely off the mark with this one. Paying the extra for one of these would give a few years of hassle/worry free motoring thanks to the 7 year warranty. I'd also think that given the warranty these have they will hold their price fairly well over the coming years. They are also very cheap to run tax/insurance/fuel wise. Or is it more sensible to just spend 5k on something and hope it doesn't bite me in the pocket maintaining the thing.
Am I mad to be considering the Kia?

for £8000 you could get a realy nice car.
Your budget is around £5000 so the kia is another £3000 more, factor that into buying a better car for 3 grand less, you would have to be very un lucky to spend 3k in repair bills.
And what is coverd by warrantee these days, after 7 years on the road i guess alot of things that will need replacing would be wear and tare.

Some items have a natural limited life/durability and are therefore covered for less than 7 years. These items include (but are not restricted to) consumable parts such as worn windscreen wiper blades, clutch linings, etc. The vehicle battery is warranted for a period of 2 years. The audio system is warranted for 3 years/60,000 miles and vehicle paint is warranted for 5 years/100,000 miles.
For all other components, the total cost of parts and labour associated with any warranty claim are covered

This should be reliable.

I'd have a good look at what at you can get for £5k.

Taking out a loan on a car like that seems pointless to me, I would rather spend £5k on a nice car than £8k on what at the end of the day is a 'white goods' car.
You can get some quite nice cars for £5k and you would have to be pretty unlucky to run up £3k work of repair bills.
You may also want to factor in the depreciation on a Kia, yes its running costs will be low, but how much is it going to loose in value in three years...
