Hi All,

I am at the stage where we are starting to refurbish all the door bits for my Griff before assembly.

We seem to have all the required bits bar one door handle and the small finisher that goes on the end (see pick of the one we have).

And one of the studs and metal spacer / washers that hold the door on and connect to the hinges (have 3), one missing.

If you have any of these that you could part with please let me know asap.

Door handle we have will most likely need a rechrome along with all the 4 other internal winders door openers (lucky we have all the bits bar just these two).

What is the door hand off of?

Confused here, as from all my various Griff folders and pictures there seems to be at least two different types of handle fitted to Griffs.

The type below (top two pic's) where the key is integral to the handle (in front of the button press):-

These above would be the preferred route for me, as all in one.

Or other have the below:-
No Lock (on a racer)
Another racer but less modded so presume never binned the separate lock.

Update of what I have

Could be like the top two from my previous post but minus the key lock (maybe they were handed and only one side had a lock on and you lent over and undid the passenger side)?

Nope, only one style of door handle was fitted to TVR's throught the S1/S2 Vixen. The handle that you show on the red car is an MGB unit. Someone fitted these handles on the cheap.

My car is a Griffith (3rd one made) - I have 1000's of pictures of Griffs and the ones I'd like to fit are the ones with the intregral lock (top Red Car pic). This is my prefered option one.

But need to know what it is off of. The on I have does not have a key lock, but does look lick Std 8 bar that.

The other ones as you are are MG Midget (but the same or almost as make no difference TR4/5/6 too but these woul have to have a separate barrel lock below the handle (why option two).

So need to know what the Top Red Cars handle is from (Fiscracers ex Griff).

Top red car is correct. In the past, many cars have been coverted to MGB handles and latches due to it being a quick fix.
Try a Nash Metropolitan.

Those are the correct handles, only missing the foot that slips over the small end. The foot is made of pot metal and very fragile. Only one side opens with a key.

Ok - now we are getting some where - so the one I have is off of my car (no lock) but the missing on is the one that would have the lock.

They still do not look like the top red cars, where the key flat area is well below the top of the button push. Atacus - do you have a pic of the key side door handle on our S1 (or could you take one).

I'll check through the other options - obvious it will make sense to have a key on one side - other unlocked from inside presumably (oldschool).

I have the other end click - has a tiny clip (few mil) off of one end - but this could be dressed back and once rechromed you would never notice if mounted with clip on lower side.

Neil - I'll check all of this - the top ebay one look right (the same as the non key one I have), other does not seem to be the same as no round standing up button press though.

Viva's are very close, but can't see any with locks on and the front end of the handle seem to have a smoother curve than the Std 8 one - but can I find and Std 8 one with a key!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Close but I don't think it has the ridge to engage the shoe?

I have someone sending me pictures of the reliant units later...he is an ex TVR dealer from the 70's and tells me that the reliant is a copy of the Standard 8-10 item..... as I said with an integral foot that was changed to stop infringing copyright.

Many thanks Adrian.

Adrian, they did a good job of avoiding infringing copyright! I dont think they needed to bother because copyright doesn,t apply to car parts, registered design possibly or intellectual property rights nowadays. I cant believe Reliant really wanted to use a 1950,s door handle in 1973 but the Standard ones were obsolete even then but the Reliant one is off another car anyway and significantly different to the TVR/Standard Triumph item. The spacing of the fixing screws is different amongst other things.

I suspect these may be the items you are looking for.

I know where there are 10 pairs of brand new still in the boxes door handles. A proper 1 make car club bought them from a specialist a few years ago but they deny any knowledge of them and will only sell to their members who can prove possesion of the appropriate model. If only the TVR Car Club had that attitude.

Sorryif the information in this post offends anyone, sTeVeR
