After a sh## weekend, where on the thursday night my front lower balljoint snapped, i wouldnt mind but it was only six weeks old, luckily i was only travelling at 5 mph and it caused no damage other to the powder coating on the insde of the wheel when the wishbone dropped, green flag recovery wouldnt recover the car unless i signed that any damage done to the car was on my head and they openlly admitted that they would damage it, so i told them b#####ks.
Next day with new ball joint in hand, a jack, axel stand, socket set and allen keys i set about a roadside repair and 25 mins later i was heading home. After i had checked the car over at work on the ramps we decided too go to Llandudno for the day as it was a glorious day. travelling home on the A55 @ Chester the traffic we came to standstill in traffic unlike the van travelling behind me who promptly ploughed in the back of my car pushing us down the road. Luckily we were both ok suffering with just whiplash and bruising, the driver claimed he never saw us even though he had travelled down a lane of stationary traffic. The next night i recieved a phone call asking me if i would like to make a will!!!! does somebody know something that i dont?
The car was taken to my local bodyshop who had repainted the car whole car only last year after my neighbour reversed into it only last year. I have waited 2 weeks to find out if they are repairing it or not as it was touch and go weather it would be a write off, thankfully today they have given the go ahead to repair it. it requires a complete rear end and repainting from the mid sills back.the paint has been ordered from germany which will take 7-10 days so i should get the back in about a months time all being well. Is this an unlucky car im thinking to myself

Feel for you Andy, hope you have pursued getting an equivalent replacement vehicle for yours while it is off the road courtesy of the van drivers insurance.
Hope it is back with you quickly.

Hey Andy....no your car isnt unlucky....these things happen!

I bought my Tuscan and within 3 weeks my wife reversed into it. Once i got it back from its respray....i realised it was using as much oil as fuel, and upon investigation required a full rebuild (after it has been bodged together and advertised as a 'full rebuild' a year earlier!).

I then got it back after many months....having not down more than 400 miles in it....and it stopped running right...well that turned out to be worn throttle bodies, so had to mod that.

Whilst the engine was being done i picked up on a few things - perished fuel pipe, fuel filter never been changed and a weeping shock absorber.

When replacing the fuel pipe i managed to split the cheap cr@p pipe that TVR used and consequently then had to remove the pump. When removing the pump one of the bolts sheared in the chassis and i had to drill that out, then retap the chassis and finally replace all the parts and pipes.

Took it in to get the shocks and geo done, and it turned out the toe adjusters had seized. So....back home i go and have to get the adjusters wire eroded out - they were stuck that solid.

Got the geo done, then the alternator goes up the spout.

There is more that has happened, but some of it i cant put in an internet forum...but just goes to show that you can be pretty unlucky with these cars, my car had a great history...but had been a little neglected for the previous 18 months before i bought it...and it had caused a few issues!!!

to be honest the ball joint is the only time it has let me down. the car runs like a dream it just other people seem to like running into it. how you can fail to see a car like it is beyond me.

fresh from the paint booth the first time around
