Hello again,
Another question : my mechanic told me that the dumpers (Avo i remember) i have on my cerbera are not compatible with the springs that seem to be the original ones (Bilstein as far as i know if i look at the front ones that are bilstein ones).
In fact, the springs, when the car is lifted up, are turning on themselves very easy ; they move alone, and i think maybe it's an explanation about the curious noise i hear sometimes at the back (but i will check the diff brackets anyway).
So, my question is :
- is it better to buy some bilstein to fix them with the springs owned ?
- is it better to change them all ? Which ones ? Which brand in taht case ?

I would like to precise that i won't go on any raceways, and that i use my car only on legal roads, often faster than the speed limit (bad, i know... lol !).

You will get loads of recomendations now....

You can spend £1200 on Nitrons, excellent shocks, or £500 on a set of Gaz. For normal fast road use, Gaz Gold are used by a lot of us and we are all happy with them.

My Protechs came as a pre-setup set, with springs, for £900 (I think). They have 13 position Compression settings and ae very good IMHO.

I do a lot of town travelling, a lot of motorway cruises and One Track Day a year.

I also have AVO on mine, were they likely to be factory fitted?

I have Nitron's fitted with Eibach springs and am very happy with them.

AVO were a pretty popular after market option back in 2000'ish. (If my memory serves me right).

avo which are on mine also apart from my front o/s damper rod snapped and is just sitting on the spring at the moment scary stuff

Surely they were 10 year old budget shocks.... So whilst I share your 'shock' I am not totally suprised.

I have AVO ones on mine with these aftermarket fast-raod springs which I got off Trackcar a few years ago





I can't remember which size are front or rear (but I'm sure someone will tell you) and the other markings are the ratings of the springs.

They are a perfect fit with the AVO shocks.

They are actually ideal for the poor roads over here but are a bit soft for track use.

Stiffer ones go at the front and I think those at 350lbs and 375lbs are about standard maybe slightly softer than standard?

Get some Eiback, about £100 a set I think mine were.

I thought Eibach were originally fitted to Cerbs?

They may well have been, there were never any issues with the springs that TVR fitted as standard, what did cause the "interesting" handling behaviour at the limit was the shocks, shocks are expensive and springs are not TVR needed to keep costs down and cheapish standard shocks was one way of doing this.

What so they are quite new and a different design? AVOs were always the cheapest option 8 years ago.

I always thought AVO was a good make,seemed very popular back in the day.personaly i dont rate Koni their units seem to leak in my experience.Where is the best place to get new springs cos my front ones are fooked,shocks are ohlins
