Hey,

Not sure what forum to put this in but;

I'm after a simple/cheapish hands-free car kit for my wife's iPhone 3G. It doesn't need to be flash insofar as it doesn't need to integrate/mute the stereo.

If it links with the address book, all well and good, but it's not a necessity.

My major requirements are charging of the phone and amplification of the speaker/voice and, obviously, a microphone for her. I'm not keen on using a earphone with mic set-up, by the way.

Any ideas/suggestions etc?

Thanks,
Phil.

I can recommend this...

The quality is good and the battery lasts for ever (comes with car charger)

Like the above, I have a Parrot minikit - most people I speak to from/on it say it's really clear and quality is good.

Well reccomended.

Just a heads-up OP..
I had a Parrot visor-mounted kit like the 1 pictured..

Was then offered an HTC and then an iPhone 3G which both had major drawbacks ..

The HTC and iPhone will work with these units to answer calls but it wont allow any voice-dialling , meaning she'll have to use the phone to dial , which totally defeats the purpose of these kits!
Had a rant at Orange about this when they sent me these phones as an upgrade .
Eventually took a Nokia N97 mini to allow voice-dialling from your Contacts , and a few months ago I got myself an iPhone 3GS which works brilliantly with it.

I may be wrong as that was a year ago , but hope that helps.

It does - thanks!

It basically seems that there's nothing out there without it's failings (understandably) but they all seem to have major failings.

I use a Parrot 'Minikit Slim' and it works fine with my iPhone 4 and previously with the 3GS I had. Note that this is the newer version of the original 'Minikit'. The advantage of the Parrot ones is that they have free software updates on their website so if they do notice an issue with a handset, they can update their software. It's easy to do, just connect the Slim to a PC via a USB lead and transfer the file across.

The voice recognition on it is great and I never use the phonebook
