I've been waiting for my coilovers for a week or two, I called MX5parts today and apparently they're in and will be with me in the next few days. I need to get them fitted (I don't have the tools to do it myself). I called the place that I used before to put in lowering springs, and they said it should be about £75 + VAT (£100 at an absolute maximum). Is this a decent price? The coilovers are fixed height so don't need any height adjustment.

They said they can do the wheel alignment too, at £100 + VAT. Would it be a bad idea to fit the coilovers and not do the alignment yet? I might not have the cash at the minute.

you must do the geometry (alignment) - all in that price isn't bad at all....if you cant afford the geometry then don't start the job

It's generally a good idea to let the new suspension bed for a few days before aligning (or, if you get the alignment done at the time they're installed, the re-alignment).

So it's no problem leaving it a few days. Don't do too many miles prior to aligning, though, as you'll most likely find your tyres will wear quite a lot. With the height remaining static, the settings won't be out too much, but definitely do get an alignment soon after installation.

As for the installation price - I recall paying about 80 or 90 to have my coilovers fitted to my old Civic, so that's about right.

100 plus vat is quite steep for alignment, saying that I paid almost 100 Inc VAT at WIM for my alignment, for about half an hours work! The 100 for fitting seems a bargain to me though so decent price all in.

Edit for typos, sodding phone

Coilover fitting price:bloody cheap.

Alignment price:a tad steep, I'd be looking to pay £75 Inc VAT for camber/toe on all four wheels.

I had a quick look at WIMs website, and was comparing the prices.. Over the phone I was told the alignment would take 2-3 hours?

I recently spoke to WIM and they wanted £168 to fit Gaz Gold Pros & £115 to do the alignment.
Your price sounds pretty damn good.

A friend of mine & I fitted them yesterday and I had the alignment done by a place that was listed on WIMs site (not sure what that actually means though?) today, for £64.

O/T but car is now superb!thumbup

Gordons tyres (Yorkshire based) do Laser alignment on all 4 wheels for under £40.

I doubt they would fit them though
