Mysteriously high number of photo views

One of my photos on flickr is getting huge numbers, compared to my other pics, of views.



As you can see it is a dull photo, but also clearly shows what brand it is. Since I uploaded it (as part of my equally dull 365) it has had a constant 4-5 views a day and then this weekend it exploded, so to speak, and is now my most viewed photo by over 200 hits from the next photo. According to my stats these views aren't coming through flickr, facebook, twitter or any normal route but instead through "Unkown Source". Given the abnormally high number of constant views I think it is linked to another site somehow, but I'm not sure how those hits would increase my own.

It's not tagged or labelled in any way to Pepsi either.
Anyway, do you have any suggestions as to what might be going on here?

Someone has hotlinked it somewhere in a forum? Can you do that with flickr photos?

I don't know. But how would that affect my page and photo views like it is? I thought just grabbing the URL to C&P onto another forum didn't do that.

Hot linking doesn't show on your stats

Someone has probably embedded it as you have above. I bet you'll see high numbers because you've embedded it here as well.

Don't that is it. It's gained 3 views since I posted this thread. It must be linked somewhere. But that doesn't answer the question which will probably go unanswered and that is "Why this one?" Ho Hum.

You don't get the counts on google stats if you've hotlinked the image - people have got to click through from it to view it on the Flickr page.

What does the Flickr stats say ?

I had a crap pic of a MK2 Golf and in a few days it had over 500 views from a French forum but for the life of me I cant find it on there, strange.

I've got the same thing with this shot I took, I was taking part in the 4AM Project but discovered that most of the lights illuminating interesting things around my home are switched off at night, this was all I could find, since then it has had tons of views, the majority of which are unknown source.

I had a photo that got 2,000 views from an unknown source within a couple of hours of me uploading it, then they just suddenly stopped. Never did find out why.

Could it be getting punted round with them asking their in house folk to generate summat similar rather than pay you for your pic?

Has it been explored? A recent pic of mine got 300 views overnight and it was only until someone in the comments said it was explored that I noticed.

The explored views wouldn't show as unknown though.
