Hi all
I am thinking of joining ACO for both the benefits breakdown assistance in France, for club membership itself, and also for getting advanced deal on next years tickets.
Can anyone else who is a member please message me re about membership; which suggested category etc.

Now then.
I was previously a member and have had cause to use the breakdown service. We were in Rouen and they towed me to the nearest Volvo dealer (as I owned an S60), so not really upto the standard of the AA/RAC service but good enough in an emergency.
We gave up on membership after several years of being unable to buy the tickets we wanted and went over to paying through the nose to an agency.

My VIP Passion membership has saved me a net 138 euros in the last year (140 euros saved for 4 adults at the Classic and 96 euros for 6 tickets for this year's 24 hours, against 98 euros subscription). Next year's savings will be lower as my membership is July to July and the Classic is only every other year.
However I also got my allocation of camping passes for Houx and seats in the ACO stand 18 for this year's 24 hours, just as it says on the tin.
Add to that free entry to the ACO enclosure and bars (lower priced beer!), TVs and live timing screens, decent showers and loos in the members area under the ACO stand, free live timing (including LMS and ALMS) streamed to my computer at home and 3G BlackBerry, 15% discount on ACO merchandise and 20% discount on Prost Karting.
I don't pay the extra 25€ for breakdown cover, because it's only for one breakdown a year, although it does include up to 5 days free car hire.

I don't think it covers recovery to the UK - essentially the ACO breakdown cover is for within France at a fairly basic level. I view it as a nice add on to the lower price tickets in case I get something like a blow out that means I would appreciate a lift to a tyre depot.
The criteria did change 2 or 3 years ago for the ACO membership including breakdown cover in that you had to have a French address for it, otherwise the only option was for Club 24 membership. It may have changed again, but worth checking.

My handy tip would be to join after 1st June, and collect your card etc at the race. Your membership expires at the end of the month in which you join, so by joining at the start of June 2011, you have membership through to the *end* of June 2012. It doesn't make any difference to ticket discounts, but it does get you into the ACO enclosure at the race for two years for the price of one!

Is their a site i can go on to get my car cover by the ACO and what benefits will i get by joining for my first trip out to le mans as i want this to be a special ocasion. I have also been informed that you get comlimentary tickets from joining the ACO can anyone give us some advice on this please as its not long now cheers.

Yes you can join and get in the enclosure right away. You will get the discount next year but not the members pack (entrants, results, programme, posters etc) as it is valid until the end of June the following year.The easiest place to join up is at the members enclosure on the inside of the circuit on the hill down from the Dunlop bridge.
If you've yet to buy your entrance ticket, the best place to join is on-line.
If you do that you'll be able to quote your membership number at the booths at the gate and get in at members' rate. If you join inside the circuit you will not get a reduction on the ticket you've already bought.
I know, I rejoined the club when they changed it to Club Passion last year, just before the Classic. I phoned them and that was the advice they gave.
