Hi Guys,

As this is my first post I shall introduce myself first I'm Lee 25 from Oooop North in sunny Leeds.
I first discovered PH last December whilst Floating about the West African coast on a pipe laying barge laying a water injection pipeline for Total as it was over Christmas so you could imagine PH passed many hours of down time which occurred.

During the bored hours pondering what to do with my " hard earned " Money, Many cars have whizzed through my little mind on which to purchase. I have finally decided on a second hand Range Rover at around 20k but I seem to be hearing A lot of horror stories i.e gearbox suspension and quite a long expensive list.

So basically I am Asking What should be Looking for is there any specific year of car not to buy and vice versa also does the sport suffer the same problems?.

Thanks Alot for any Replies I may get.

Lee

Always fun these questions!

My 2006 Sport TDV6 HSE would be the kind of thing in your budget. It's probably not as good as a later one of course but for me, it's been great. Plenty of horror stories out there but then no one tells good stories do they?

At just turned 60k, the history of mine shows just normal services and the biggest bill was for a new turbo at 35,000 miles, no idea why that went, down to the previous owner. I got loads of info from the RRS forum before I bought, just got the best I could find knowing that now and again, the running cost would bite hard. Averages about 25mpg, goes anywhere, easy to drive and unless you need the full size RR, it has to be worth a look at one.

Enjoy the search!

I see a lot of 4.2 sc's for the around 20 k range, are they as dependable?
