Right. Decision time.

The olde 2006 Enduro needs a £300 fork service (stantion wear so new uppers required). 36 talas.

ouch.


Option A: Tell mojo to do the work, suck it up and get back on it on return.

Option B: Get the fork back, sell on ebay for a pittance and buy another s/h fork (for less than £300) and get the enduro back out there.

Option C: Get the fork back, break the bike on STW for as much as possible and pick up a new spanky ghost AMR on 0% finance.

Option D: errr?

Option E: Get someone else to do the service? Like it will be THAT much cheaper? I somehow doubt it.

I think I want a small light full susser to sit beside my dialled PA. All my riding is in the UK now and haven't done an uplift day in months.

Having said that the 36 is a good bit of kit, but if you've got that 'shiney stuff' itch sometimes you have to scratch it!

£300 for some basically new 2006 36s,

or...

£600 for some brand new 36's/totems.

And can I suggest you get your forks serviced more regularly in future

Have the forks serviced, get Mojo to put some new stickers on them and pretend they're new ones.........how much are new Fox forks these days?

I'd get the existing ones serviced if it was me. Cheaper than buying a new set and you'll get at least another 4 or 5 years out of them. You can always sell them at a later date if you have the urge to upgrade.

I agree, just get them serviced, especially if you are happy with that bike!
I swap and change and it costs me a small fortune, silly really.

I was faced with EXACTLY the same problem late last year (I even have a 2006 Enduro).

Happily, depending on what side of the problem your on, the '05 / '06 36's have a problem with cracking lowers due to overtightening so it wasn't too hard to find a set of broken 36's on eBay for just under £100. Bought them, swapped the lowers for mine and hey presto fixed.

Better still I fitted the broken lowers to the worn stanctions and stuck them back on the 'bay (with honest description) and someone bought them for £1.30 more than I bought them for because his damper had failed.

Had them up Mojo last month when they started to play up, came back serviced with a full bill of health.

These look like they might suit, the write up doesn't make the crack too clear, but these really shouldn't be used
