I think my diff has gone?
Discussion
Well it had to happen at some point, it's something I have been waiting for every time I plant the right foot. So it would just be nice if you guys could confirm that what I have found is the diff before I order a quaife, and also is there anything else I need to change at the same time?
When driving the car it all seems fine until you take your foot off the accelerator but still in gear, I get a noise that sounds to me like a missing tooth on a gear or something. I jacked up the car and when spinning the offside wheel backwards making the nearside wheel spin forwards you get a nasty banging/clonking noise. (The driveshaft seems to jump a bit too.) When turning the offside wheel its exactly 180 degrees between the bangs.
Any ideas or tips for things to check would be great, otherwise I'll get a new diff on order and get stuck into gearbox removal.

I hate to admit it but yes I think it's the diff, is that good milage then? I was just hoping I had missed something obvious but it looks like I'll be on the phone to order a new one in the morning.hope you get it sorted mate

It's not the driveshafts or support bearing as they've just been replaced.

BTW correct me if I am wrong but JamesMr2 is running a 5 speed box with 530bhp?... tuxman is running 490bhp!
Ah that's interesting, as you well know i have been collecting bits (your exhaust and intercooler, grants turbos) but i thought i needed the 6 speed box to take the power. Maybe i'll look into strengthening the 5 speed then as im itching to get these bits on the car.The STD 5 speed box does not have a problem with power it's torque that kills it !!! Get the box done by my gearbox man fit a cooler and LSD and cap the torque at 420lbft and you will be fine , mines still sounds sweet after 5000 miles and over 900 track miles 350 in the last 3 weeks !!!! You need to do clutch as well but worth it while it's all out !!! Tux

T28 turbos
Valve springs
Timing back to STD
044 pump
Pro alloy intercooler
Bigger injectors
Exhaust
500 bhp here we come :-) :-) :-)
You have indeed lol, after seeing daddysumos car on the rollers then grants and how good they sounded i've had the need to start playing with it. And as i now have all the expensive bits i may as well do the rest! I was going to look for a 3R to put all the bits on but there just doesn't seem to be any about.T28 turbos

i'm not really after BIG power like you boys are running and i dont know what's a realistic figure with the parts i have, would also do fuel pump and valve springs while it's out.
