Castle Combe May 30th Novice question

I have a virginal MSA license with not a single stamp in yet. I have a tin hat at the ready for the flak I assume I'm about to draw, however... Does anybody know if there is a company offering arrive and drive or car share or anything that could get me on to a grid on that date. The reason I have picked Castle Combe is that it is not too far away, I will be coming from Hereford, and I know that the MX5 series is a popular beginners class (ducks). Long term a friend and I are looking at racing Historics but getting racing and breaking that all important seal is the main objective at the moment.
If not this event, then can anyone advise on any other races that weekend where a fellow virgin and I may be able to get involved?

Why the tin hat? We were all new once! You may get a better response in the Club Racing forum though.
There are a number of companies offering hire MX-5s and MR2s. I would give the series organiser a ring and ask who they would recommend. Don't forget there are several MX5 series and the cars, I think, would be able to race in both series if the other series isn't racing elsewhere that weekend.
I've not raced MX5's - I race a Ginetta and a Crossle - but they do have a reputation of being quite forceful with each other. May not be what you want in your first race!
Does it have to be Coombe, too? Its a great track, but very fast, there's not many visual landmarks, and a couple of fairly tricky corners. I don't know your level of track experience so it might not be ideal. There's not a huge amount of testing there either, which you may want in a new car/new circuit.
If you are flexible with venues, that weekend the CSCC are racing at Donington. I won't be there as I'm racing at Oulton, but it might be worth ringing Hugo at CSCC and asking if he knows of any cars available for double drives. If you want to race historics, CSCC is pretty cheap - not as cheap as it was! - very good driving standards, and very nice people.

I think Tom Roche (Blendini Motorsport) had a spare seat for Combe, although you might be to late to get anything sorted.
Also worth trying Rob Boston or Ben Short.
