Chaps,

Got a problem I'm looking to see if anyone has had before.

I started noticing that when I put my foot down that the battery light was flicking on. Playing with this in the garage yesterday, the same thing happens when the car is stationary and starts to happen when the engine revs get over about 4000rpm.

The engine itself is running fine.

Anyone clues as to what the cause might be??

Cheers,

Simon.

either loose wire/connector or the alternator is about to die

Seem to recall similar symptoms at Spa just prior to frying the old fuel pump electrics. Do you have upgraded pump and wiring?

ive got this problem also i think its the wires to the alternator i have a new alternator so hope its not dying. there is a red wire which is very thin, i think this is the culprit on mine.

Thanks for the responses.

Wiring to the fuel pump and the pump are all original so not upgraded (yet). The alternator/wiring sounds like a likely a logical cause of the problem so will look into both of those.

Car's going into Plans for it's service on Monday but would rather sort this sort of problem out myself.

Cheers,

Simon.

Unless the wires are v well insulated (which on original cars they are not ) the heat turns them brittle, almost like glass, and conductivity can be severely compromised
